The 5/8" Ellsworth Signature Bowl Gouge was developed in conjunction with David Ellsworth. It is made from a steel bar with a diameter of 5/8" and a flute width of about 1/2". The profile of the gullet is V-shaped just like the Superflute Gouges. The special feature of this gouge is a side grind which allows you to make both rough and fine cuts on bowls. This tool has an overall length of 24" with a 8 3/4" blade. Made in Sheffield, England by Henry Taylor. Click on the picture below for a close-up of the grind.

Diamic Wood Turning Tools by Henry Taylor
The Diamic line of M2 High Speed Steel ("HSS") wood turning tools are expertly crafted by Henry Taylor Tools Ltd. in Sheffield, England. Having been the first company to make turning tools from HSS back in 1978, Henry Taylor has developed a great expertise in selecting the optimum alloys for their tools. Arguably, the heat and abrasion resisting properties of their line of M2 HSS is unrivalled by other manufacturers.
Although slightly more expensive, M2 HSS will retain a sharp edge some six times longer than regular carbon steel. Also, when regrinding this tool, it will keep its hardness even if an accidental bluing were to take place.
The Beech handles have been stained and lacquered and feature a brass ferrule.
