Adze - Straight (2.25 lb) 34" Handle |
Traditionally referred to as a Carpenter's adze, the Straight Long Handled Adze is hand forged out of the highest quality German steel by "Oxhead", one of the oldest German tool companies with a toolmaking tradition dating back to 1781. The overall length of the head is 9" with a straight 3 3/8" cutting edge. The weight of the head is 35 oz. The length of the blade also has a slightly curved shape from the eye to the cutting edge to match the natural arc of the swing. 34" long Hickory Handle. The tapered eye allows the handle to be safely secured without having to use wedges, permitting it to be quickly removed for ease of sharpening. Although it comes machine sharpened, we recommend a final hone for optimal performance. Made in Germany. The adze is used to shape and trim timber. It is capable of removing large amounts of wood quickly. Today's common uses of the Carpenter's Adze do not differ much from its traditional purpose.
