This traditional Froe is crafted in the USA from quality tool steel. It is a basic but sturdy Froe model where the blade measures approximately 15" long, 2" wide and 1/4" thick. Comes with an 18" Hickory handle. We recommend the use of a heavy wooden mallet for striking the froe.

The Froe The traditional uses of the froe are many: splitting shingles, splitting oak logs for wheel spokes, splitting wood for chair legs and so on. The froe is typically driven into the wood by striking it with a Mallet or a Club and then rocked sideways while the edge is forced further down into the wood until the split opens up fully.
