Hand Rub Stone - Soft Arkansas Novaculite Stone |
This Hand Rub Axe Stone measures 4" in diameter and 7/8" thick. It is the perfect choice for sharpening your axes, drawknives and other tools where bringing the stone to the tool makes more sense than the other way around. The circular shape and size make it easy to comfortably and securely grip it with one hand. The substantial stone thickness (about 7/8") is the key to preventing your finger tips from being shaved off when sharpening. The stone is crafted from Soft Natural Arkansas Novaculite. The Soft Arkansas Stone will produce keen and polished edges in a minimum amount of time and is a great all-purposes stone.
Our Natural Arkansas Stones
All our Natural Arkansas Stones (Soft, Hard Black and Hard Translucent) are hand-crafted from Novaculite, a naturally occurring stone quarried from rock formations in the state of Arkansas. Traditionally, when our forebears referred to Arkansas Stones they referred to Novaculite stones. Unfortunately, in recent years some vendors have begun to refer to their stones as Arkansas Stones when in fact they are not Natural Novaculite Stones but rather are made from material with lesser sharpening and abrasive qualities such as reconstituted stones or sand stones. So, to make sure you are getting the real thing remember to ask what exactly make up that particular "Arkansas" Stone.
