Knife Edge File - Hard Select Natural Arkansas Novaculite
The Knife Edge File is an extremely useful specialty stone for carvers but also for sharpening the edges on router bits, drill bits and other tools where the knife edge shape makes for easier sharpening. This particular knife edge file is crafted from Hard Select Natural Arkansas Novaculite and measures 4" long, 7/8" wide and a 1/4" base thickness gradually tapering off at a 15 degree angle to a sharp edge.
The Hard Select Arkansas Stone will produce a keen and polished edge in a minimum amount of time. The Hard Select is a standard Natural Hard Arkansas (Fine) grade and falls right between Soft Natural Arkansas and Hard Black/Translucent Natural Arkansas.
Our Natural Arkansas Stones
All our Natural Arkansas Stones (Soft, Hard Select, Hard Black and Hard Translucent) are hand-crafted from Novaculite, a naturally occurring stone quarried from rock formations in the state of Arkansas. Traditionally, when our forebears referred to Arkansas Stones they referred to Novaculite stones. Unfortunately, in recent years some vendors have begun to refer to their stones as Arkansas Stones when in fact they are not Natural Novaculite Stones but rather are made from material with lesser sharpening and abrasive qualities such as reconstituted stones or sand stones. So, to make sure you are getting the real thing remember to ask what exactly make up that particular "Arkansas" Stone.
