Mortise and Marking Gauge - Japanese Design |
The single bevel blades in this gauge cut rather than tear the fibers. The gauge produces a cut line that is clean and without tear-out. With some applied pressure, a rather deep cut line can be achieved providing an excellent score line for sawing or chisel work. Use both cutters when you want to lay-out the parallel mortise lines. Alternatively, allow the inside blade to recess into the head for single blade lay-out tasks. The gauge is made from Japanese White Oak. The blades are made from hardened and tempered high carbon steel. The stem locks with a brass thumb screw. The head measures 4-1/2" x 2" and is wide enough to allow for good registration and control. Maximum marking width is 0" to 4". Made in Japan. View Traditional Woodworker's Entire Selection of Measuring & Marking Tools
