No. 112 Scraper Plane by KUNZ |
This is a quality reproduction of Stanley's discontinued #112. The long sole of this scraper plane (relative to to the No. 80 Cabinet Scraper) makes this model ideal for smoothing large size surfaces such as a table top. The No. 112 Scraper Plane by KUNZ will really excel when the wood is figured and difficult to smooth with a smoothing plane. The body of the plane is made from fine grey cast iron that has been epoxy coated for lasting protection. The sole is finely ground and measures 9 1/4" long and 3 1/4" wide. Cleverly, the bedding angle of the 2 3/4" wide scraper blade may be adjusted to any angle between 90 and 65 degrees for optimum scraping action. The handle and front knob are made from composite material. The typical German attention to detail and precision is evidenced by the quality fit and finish of this plane. Getting a scraper plane to perform optimally can be a difficult and frustrating experience. As with all scrapers, it is important that the scraper blade is properly tuned and burnished before use. Accordingly, we have included clear instructions for tuning and burnishing the blade for optimum performance. Precision crafted in Germany by KUNZ. A toothed blade is also available separately.
