One-Man Crosscut Saw - Lance Teeth - (32") with Supplementary Handle - Made in Germany |
The Saw features a "Lance" teeth design with four cutting teeth to each raker tooth. Historically, the Lance pattern has been the preferred style when cutting fresh green softwoods such as Fir, Spruce and Redwood.
This hand hammered, Heavy-Duty Cross-Cut Saw is ideal for log building, timber framing or any job requiring a serious saw. This Saw is intended for cutting green wood where it truly excels. It will also cut dry wood although the performance will be much slower. The blade is 32" long and is 6" wide at the base tapering to about 3" at the tip. The teeth cut on the push as well as on the pull stroke. The blade has been hand sharpened and set and is made from extra heavy-duty 18 gauge special formula saw steel. The teeth pattern includes starter teeth at the front of the blade to make it easier to begin a proper kerf before the main teeth are introduced. The wooden handle is made from from laminated beech for strength and durability. Overall length is 35". Crafted the traditional way in Germany.
Also includes the Supplementary handle. Align it with the predrilled hole and clamp it onto the tip of the one-man saw thereby making the One-Man Saw suitable for two-man use. Alternatively, if you require a supplementary handle for more forceful one-man use, drill a hole close to the existing wood handle and clamp on the Supplementary handle.
The handle is some 5" long and attaches to the blade by means of a clamping force produced by a bolt that passes through the blade. The large knob will allow you to tighten and loosen this clamping pressure. The handle has been machined from aluminum and composite for long lasting duty.
