Please note that all Professional Palm Carving Tools (Acorn by Henry Taylor) now come with natural wood handles (not dark stained as shown in some pictures) and fully polished blades.
Acorn Wood Carving Tools are world-renowned and have been made by Henry Taylor since 1834, combining the traditional pride and skills of those far off days with the aids of modern technology. Only the best quality Sheffield steel is used, coupled with advanced heat treatment, to ensure the finest of cutting edges is not only achieved but also maintained. Average steel hardness is Rc 60 - 62. Many of the lower quality Wood Carving Tools produced elsewhere are made under drop stamps or presses but Henry Taylor believe that only the hand forging method used by the "Acorn" craftsmen can produce the correctly shaped blade with the best metallurgical qualities. If cared for properly, these hand forged carving tools will last a lifetime. Except for the straight and skew chisels which are polished on both sides, the blade of each tool features Henry Taylor's traditional non-reflective black anvil finish on the inside and a polished finish on the outside. The handles feature one flat side to prevent them from rolling off the bench and solid brass ferrules. Overall length is approximately 5" with a blade length of 2 1/2". Quality Crafted in England. These tools come with a cutting edge that has been professionally sharpened and meticulously honed. As such, the edge is absolutely razor sharp and ready for use.
