Quality Bit Brace
This quality Bit Brace is made by a small firm in France. The Bit Brace comes with an excellent chuck with 3 forged jaws that will securely grip traditional auger bits with taper shanks as well as hex shank bits. The chuck will also grip round shank bits but we feel there will always be a tendency for round shank bits to slip in the chuck when torque in applied. Accordingly, we recommend you use the brace with auger bits with taper shanks or with hex shanks. A closed ratchet mechanism allows the brace to work in confined spaces with ease. Ball bearing mounted head. Overall length 14". Handle turn diameter 10". Made in France.
Set of 7 Double Spur Solid Center Hand Brace Auger Bits
These bits with tapered square shanks are designed for use with a traditional Hand Brace. When using a hand brace, the tapered square shank slides into the square hole at the bottom of the hand brace chuck thereby ensuring that the bit will never slip. The double spur scribes the hole prior to entry and before the double cutters engage. This design leaves a very clean hole finish. The full-length heat treated bit with its solid center guard against bending in heavy-duty applications and strengthens the twist where the greatest strain occurs. Overall length 7-1/2" to 9". These are well made bits with a medium-fast screw center point. They are ideal for general wood drilling applications that require a clean hole finish. Made in Brazil.
