Side Clamping Honing Guide- Made in Taiwan |
Maintaining the proper angle while sharpening is key for top notch results. While some people get great results without a honing guide others (myself included) rely on a guide to achieve superior results with consistency. The continued popularity of this Side Clamping Honing Guide is probably accounted for by its versatility and affordable price.
Using the lower set of grooved clamps, you may hone bevel edged chisels with a width between 1/8" and 2". Using the upper set of clamps, you may hone plane blades with a width between 1 3/8 and 3 1/8". The honing angle is adjusted by regulating the extent to which the chisel or iron is projecting beyond the edge of the guide. For example, to achieve a 25 degree angle on a chisel, it needs to project exactly 1 5/8" from the edge of the guide. The most common projections are clearly stamped on the side of the guide for easy reference. One side of the clamp is slightly rounded to prevent shifting of the blade whilst in use. The 1/2" wide roller is made from hardened steel and rolls very smoothly. The chisel in the picture is not included.
Comes with clear instructions.
