Two-Man Crosscut Saw (48") - Germany - Tuttle |
This Saw features a "Tuttle" teeth design with two cutting teeth to each raker tooth. Historically, the Tuttle pattern has been the preferred style when cutting green hardwoods and any kind of seasoned wood. Of all three tooth patterns we offer, we consider the Tuttle to be the most versatile. As such, it makes for the best all-purpose saw. Click on the picture below for a close-up of the the teeth pattern.
This hand hammered, Heavy-Duty Cross-Cut Log and Timber Saw is ideal for cutting medium to large logs. This Saw is intended for cutting green wood where it truly excels. It will also cut dry wood although the performance will be much slower. The blade is 48" long, features a curved breast and is 4 1/2" wide in the middle. The teeth cut both on the push and on the pull stroke. The ready for use blade has been hand sharpened and set and is made from extra heavy-duty 18 gauge special formula saw steel. The wooden handles fit into sockets at each end of the blade. Overall length is 52". Crafted the traditional way in Germany. Comes with one pair of wooden handles.
