Primer on Tenon Cutters: They come in either a 60 degree design or a curved design. The former makes 60 degree tenon shoulders. Although not required, this tenon design may be mated with a tapered countersunk mortise hole. The latter design makes simple curved tenon shoulders. 60 degree tenon cutters are available in sizes from 1" to 3". Curved tenon cutters are available in sizes 1/2" to 2". For any given tenon size, the 60 degree cutters will be able to accept a larger log size than will the curved cutters. Both designs will enable you to build any kind of log furniture you may have in mind although the larger size tenon cutters tend to be preferred when building log railing. The shank size is 1/2" for all cutter sizes of both designs.
