The Dozuki Saw has the thinnest blades of all Japanese saws. It is a single-sided saw with a reinforced back that adds stability to the blade but also limits the depth of cut. The Dozuki Saw is the best choice for high precision cuts, e.g. dovetails, tenons and other fine joinery. As opposed to Western style joinery saws which cut on the push stroke, Japanese saws cut on the pull stroke. In use, the tension from the pulling force keeps the blade straight. As a result, the saw blades can be made extra thin with very narrow kerfs (width of cut). In turn, a narrow kerf means less friction which reduces the power needed to make the cut. The end result is a fast and controlled cut with a high degree of accuracy.
