Japanese Chisels - Nomikatsu Premium Grade

These are premium quality Japanese Chisels with blades hand forged from Hitachi High Speed Steel ("HSS") throughout. In the past, HSS has been too coarse grained to be able to take a really sharp edge. However, Hitachi's new HSS is not only very tough it is also very fine grained permitting it to take a very sharp edge. The blade has been hardened and tempered to Rc 66 providing an unrivalled ability to hold a razor sharp edge. The toughness and hardness of these HSS chisels make them very suitable for restoration work or for any situation when you are faced with knotty or less than perfect wood. Red oak handles fitted with hand forged steel striking hoops. Blade length 2 1/4". Overall length 9". Made by the Kojama workshop in Miki City, Hyogo Prefect, Japan.
