This hand forged, Acorn brand gouge is designed for sculptors who work in large sections of timber. A very sturdy and imposing tool yet beautifully balanced to handle heavy duty cuts with finesse. Built to absorb heavy mallet use, the 6 1/2" long beech handles are fitted with two 5/8" wide and 1/16" thick steel ferrules and with a shock absorbing leather washer. Individually hand forged by skilled craftsmen from top quality Sheffield tool steel. Edges are ground sharp although final honing is recommended for top performance. This particular gouge has a #7 sweep and is 13 1/4" long overall. The blade is 2" wide and has a length of 6 3/4". Expertly crafted in England by Henry Taylor.
