The Adze
The adze is used to shape and trim timber. It is capable of removing large amounts of wood quickly. The Gutter Adze was traditionally used for hollowing out the trough of wooden gutters. Fields of common use today would include timber framing, chairmaking and large wood sculpturing.
Gransfors Bruk
The family owned Gransfors Bruk (Gransfors Forge) is located in a small town in the county of Halsingland in Sweden. The forge has been making premium quality axes and other forged tools since 1902. All tools are hand forged by professional smiths. The forging craft is allowed to take its time as the smiths do not work by the piece. They take care and do the right forging from the beginning. Their confidence in the end product is such that they choose not to stone, grind, smooth or paint the tools. When a smith is satisfied with his work, he marks the head with his initials beside the Company?s crown label.
