The Froe
The traditional uses of the froe are many: splitting shingles, splitting oak logs for wheel spokes, splitting wood for chair legs and so on. The froe is typically driven into the wood by striking it with a Mallet or a Club and then rocked sideways while the edge is forced further down into the wood until the split opens up fully.
