The 15" Frame Saw is an all purpose saw. It takes longer to learn to use than other handsaws, but once mastered it will become a favorite tool. It has several advantages. Because the blade is narrower and thinner than Western Panel Saws, the amount of wood cut is less and therefore the blade advances more quickly, cutting a straight line easier.
Handles swivel on leather bushings to allow the blade to rotate easily and cut at any angle. Blades are held in place by two steel pins and can be quickly changed. Blade tension is applied with a waxed tensioning string. The 15" saw comes with three blades as follows:
- 9 tpi Cross Cut Blade - 15 1/2" long and 1 3/16" wide
- 5 tpi Rip Blade - 15 1/2" long and 1 3/16" wide
- 9 tpi Turning/Scrolling Blade - 15 1/2" long and 3/8" wide
Some assembly required.
The Hard Maple frame is made in the USA and the 3 blades are made in Germany.
