For purposes of shaping large timbers and logs this is one of the best Draw Knives that we carry. The blade is straight over its full length. Uniquely, the cutting bevel is rounded instead of having a more common flat bevel. When used with the bevel down, the round bevel gives the user great control over the depth of cut. Essentially, the user is "riding the bevel" and a slight change in the application angle will alter the depth of cut. Further, the rounded bevel provides more strength to the cutting edge. This draw knife has been hand forged in Austria at the Himmelsberger Zeughammerwerk from top quality steel and then expertly hardened and tempered for the best combination and hardness and toughness. The blade is very sharp and measures approximately 13-1/2" long, 2" wide and a full 1/4" thick. To make for a strong and secure attachment, the tangs extend fully through the hickory handles and are secured by a nut at the end. This is an excellent draw knife for shaping and giving logs and large timbers the hand hewn look. Overall length 22".
